In a recent interview, Garry shared with us his experiences, his favourite elements of his role and his thoughts on the future of the mechanical services sector…
Exploring Garry’s role at Accurate and how he uses his extensive experience to develop our company.
How long have you worked for Accurate Mechanical Services?
I have been with Accurate for 5 years now, however, I have worked in the industry for over 32 years.
Previously, I owned my own businesses, including two air conditioning companies. I am really proud of how I started my first business from scratch, achieving over £90,000 worth of business in our first year. It taught me so much.
In fact, David James, the Owner and Director of Accurate, and I have known each other for over 30 years.
When David found out that I had sold my company, he offered me a position at Accurate, wanting to use my experience and knowledge to assist in developing his company moving forward.
What does your day-to-day role involve?
In my role as Sales and Business Development Manager, it is my responsibility to develop new business. I focus on the ‘smaller end’ of the market place, including small commercial projects and end user residential projects.
I work with existing Accurate customers. I also work to introduce new clients to our company through various contacts of mine, including previous customers from my old business.
What do you think is most important about your job?
The most important element of my role is building a positive relationship with our clients.
I focus on the customer and their needs.
I really love the variety of the different types of projects I am involved with. It means I never tire of building those relationships and maintaining the focus on the customer, because no project is ever the same.
From your business experience, what makes Accurate Mechanical Services stand out?
Accurate is forward-thinking company. It’s really nice working here because you are working with people that are friendly and like-minded. That’s what our customers experience too.
“Accurate is a forward thinking company.”
Exploring key challenges and future opportunities in the mechanical services sector.
What do you think are the key challenges in the industry?
I think the rising costs of equipment and general material costs are a key challenge. It is becoming more difficult to offer a good service, good quality of workmanship and installation at competitive prices.
Where do you see the future of mechanical services?
Our focus for the future of mechanical services needs to be on more investment to encourage younger people into our industry. They are the future.

Always have a positive state of mind.
